Haché Shoreditch: Gourmet Burgers with Global Garnishes

If you have been lucky enough to visit any of the Haché restaurants in Shoreditch, Chelsea, Camden or Clapham, you will know that this is no regular burger joint. As well as a candle-lit interior, the restaurant boasts a menu that includes the finest steaks and hand-crafted burgers that come served sizzling in home-made breads such as brioche or ciabatta buns.

Rather than the choice of ketchup or BBQ sauce, you can enjoy freshly made coleslaw or chilli-jam sauce. It doesn’t seem to matter which corner of the world you want to sample, there is an accompanying sidekick relish or sauce for everyone – the Moroccan Steak is served with Guacamole dip, or you can plump for the chicken fajita with jalapenos and salsa.

Owners Berry and Suzie Casey haven’t forgotten to cater for the vegetarians either with the Falafel sweet corn Burger proving the main highlight. However, with just 3 main options compared to 25 for everyone else, vegetarians would be forgiven for thinking that a visit to the Hache restaurant is a predominantly carnivorous affair.

To complement your main-dish, there are also beer-battered onion rings, which I have seen them described as “Sublime” and “to die for”.

The drinks menu keeps with the high-end theme, with champagne selling at £54.95 a bottle. If you didn’t fancy the Peanut butter with your steak, then you can have it blended in a milkshake instead. The desserts are more traditional, so after trying something unusual, you can return back to familiarity with a sticky toffee pudding or banoffee pie.

Until the Haché brand came about, there was a gap in the market for an upmarket niche restaurant selling delicious food for gourmet burger-loving foodies to tuck into, and the Shoreditch location is ideal for a date or night out with friends. The many bars surrounding Hache means that booking a table could be an impressive start to a palatable night.
