Pop in for a couple and we guarantee you will find yourself passing round the cocktail pitcher four hours later. The Grand Union pubs have made quite an impact thanks to their luxurious, quirky, shabby chic decor.
At the GU Wandsworth the solitary can swing idly away in hammocks, while groups lounge in luxuriously cushioned coves. The favourites here however are the Thai styled beach huts, each equipped with comfortable seating, tables and own heater. An outdoor bar serves beers and ciders, whilst the more decadent can enjoy a delightful selection of cocktails served from the main bar indoors. Sunday is barbeque day but to be honest, we find it impossible to visit Grand Union without indulging in a gourmet burger, which come in wide range anywhere from classic cheese and bacon to luxury duck egg and asparagus, with the option of breadless stacks for the carb-conscious. Although a perfect location for blissfully boozy afternoons, GU Wandsworth’s beer garden really comes into its own after dark when the colourful lanterns and fairy lights bring an added air of enchantment.
